(Continued from 'Just Like you Imagined')
Akane quickly turned tail and barged into the main camp swiftly giving orders that were followed without question. The Koga’s Katsuo had killed had already been taken for burial, and he was glad to see that two of the six were still - barely - alive and receiving treatment. Though, he couldn't help but feel that they might as well be dead considering how useful they would be to them now.
After dispatching a few of their border guard reserves, Akane stayed and slunk around the stronghold ending quarrels and asserting his superiority (which has to be said was one of his favourite past-times). Now and again, he looked towards where he vaguely remembered seeing the female Iga escape, awaiting a locator howl from the tracker, Joumae.

Joumae narrowed her eyes at last at the arrogant young male in front of her. No matter how hard she hit him, he refused to admit that what he'd done was stupid and wrong. "I'm turning you in," she growled at last. "If I can't teach you a lesson, then perhaps Akane will." Scoffing, Kitanai licked a few of the scratches Joumae had given him. "You wouldn't," he chuckled. "You're bluffing. You care about me way too much to throw me into the lion's den." At first, Joumae considered this. Yeah, she was a softie when it came to him. The few love taps she'd given his face and chest weren't even enough to bleed. She knew for certain that if it became known that he'd caused the deaths of four Kogas, Akane would not be so merciful. But could she risk him feeling like he could get away with such a thing? "Your funeral," she muttered, smirking. As Kitanai watched with wide, hollow eyes, she threw her head back and howled.

When Akane heard Joumae's howl, his whole body came to attention and focused on the target area. Before setting off, he gave his own deep, almost haunting howl in response to voice his coming.
"Sounded like it came from Kitanai's station." "Heh, well I'm sure Akane will-" Akane shot a glare at two layabouts ear-wigging on his business. He snorted; much like a bull would, and sent them scattering to the other side of the Koga house. "Kitanai... interesting." He smirked to himself, then set off at a leisurly pace. There was no hurry, he thought.

I can't believe you did that!" the young male cried, his whole body shaking now. "Akane...Akane will...he'll kill me!" Joumae flinched. "I don't care," she mumbled, "you deserve it." A little part of Kitanai died then as his body began to shake. In truth, his past words had been a complete lie. He hadn't spotted Katsuo running through the forest. He heard her, however, as she passed him, but he ignored her scent and went back to sleep. He figured when he heard her leaving that Joumae, as usual, would stand up for him and take the hit. Now, he was a little afraid. "It's about time you grew up," Joumae growled. "And Akane can help you."

A strong scent of fear decended from above as Akane neared the border. Slowing his pace, he stopped, "Pitiful. Just pitiful." He sneered, deciding to take to the tree tops. Hopping onto a weak low-hanging branch, Akane launched himself quickly up a tree to their border height that was indicated with corresponding claw marks. It then occurred to him that Kitanai would be expecting a good beating for his negligence that Akane could have a bit of fun with, ".. Let the games begin." He smirked, elevating his half-tail and stream-lining his posture for quick manoeuvring. Kicking off the branch, he whisked his way through the trees with ease until he could see a blotch of brown - Kitanai couldn't have been parked in a better spot. "Kitanai![/i]" Akane mustered up his most fearsome of voices, baring his teeth as he barked his name, "You’re mine!"
Before the unsuspecting Koga could turn around, Akane had taken him by the scruff and swiftly descended from the tree tops. In one fluid movement, he slammed Kitanai to the ground as... gently as one could in that situation. He then positioned himself over the quivering mass - paws either side of his shoulders - and simply growled into the male’s comparatively small face awaiting some befuddled excuses.

As Akane hit Kitanai with all the force of a freight train, Joumae winced and looked away, unable to take anymore. She'd spent way too much time trying to weave Kitanai into the format of Koga society that her compassion for his mishaps was worn thin. She turned away from his shouts of pain and leaped through the woods, eager to get out of earshot.
"I'm so sorry, sir!" Kitanai, far below, muttered fearfully. "I'm sorry! I shouldn't...I shouldn't...I shouldn't have fallen asleep! It was my fault, all mine, I swear it!" He shut his eyes to keep out the tears. Even if he was ready to pee himself, even if he was staring death in the face, and even if he'd made the most idiotic mistake a Koga could make, Kitanai knew that Joumae would never speak to him again if he didn't own up to what he'd done. Still, that didn't make the feeling of Akane's hot, menacing breath near the nape of his neck any more bearable than the first time, when Joumae had taken the punishment for him. "I'll do anything to make it up to you, honest! Just don't kill me, sir!"

Akane held his growl as long as he possibly could before it turned into a devilish cackle. As much as he enjoyed watching the lower males squirm beneath him, the terrified look on his face was just too much to hold a straight face, "I'm not going to kill you," his voice bubbled through the snarl that rose when he realised Joumae had made a run for it, "Joumae! Don't call and run - what are you, an Iga? Get back here!" Akane bellowed. He had something to say in light of Kitanai's lapse of duty, and since the two of them were as thick as thieves it would make sense for them both to hear it. Until she returned, Akane scowled at the young male and stood back to let him up, "Be thankful that Kamui's lenience is in your favour." He wasn't sure if Kitanai had missed the Iga leaving as well, and if so he'd divulge their Leader's actions to explain himself. Normally, it was a given that if an Iga was to walk into Koga territory, they would not walk out.

Joumae flinched inwardly at the harsh tone of his voice. Still, she ambled back towards the two males, screaming at herself to remain calm on the inside. "Yes, Akane-san?" The little male panicked. "Wait, she didn't do anything!" he growled, trying to release himself from Akane's death grip. "Joumae didn't do anything, I promise! It was my fault, all my fault!" He tried several times to throw the Koga second-in-command off of him, but his small frame could not conjure up enough strength to preform the task. "I'll..." Then his usually bright, amber gaze hardened, and he narrowed his eyes at Akane. "If you hurt her I'll kill you!" "Kita, show some damned respect!" Joumae cried, horrified at her friend's brash remark. "Apologize to Akane!" "No," Kitanai replied, though his momentary courage was beginning to fade. "I meant what I said, Sir. With all due respect, of course."

Akane's nose wrinkled as he listened to the young male’s gush of weakly-backed words. Though, he did find some amusement in Joumae's almost motherly scold, "Psh, 'with all due respect'. You don't even know what you're saying." He turned his back, only to flip straight around again and snap his gargantuan jaws just millimetres from Kitanai's nose, "If I could teach you anything, boy, it would be this: don't vow to kill something that will kill you first." His amber eyes shot a sideways glance to Joumae, "You would be wise to listen to your friend. Another remark like that and I'll do more than knock you out of a tree, understood?" Akane's tail bristled as he held it higher. If it were another, more established male, making such threats then perhaps he'd be more inclined to follow through his warning. But it was just too easy, "I know full well that Joumae did nothing wrong. Out of the two of you, Joumae is the only one that seems to do her job - don't insult my intelligence." Strangely, Akane seemed to hold a great respect for females that he wouldn't openly show, even before he got together with his past mate. His sexual appetite - unlike other males in the clan - was never apparent, and he gained allegiance from them more so than the males of his troop. It didn’t really occur to him why this was exactly, but he accepted it.

Kitanai let out a brief sigh. "Thank you, sir. And I will, I promise, listen to Joumae more often..." Damned right you'll listen to me more! Joumae thought angrily as she bit the side of her lip. He's just lucky Akane-san is in a good mood by now. Had he been caught before the others calmed Akane-san down... She shook her head. No! I don't even want to think about that! Even so, she couldn't stop herself from imagining Kitanai's head sitting on a pike... "Akane-san," she began in her most polite and seemingly innocent voice, "if that's all, I'd like to go, thank you." Because I can hit him all I want. Because I can insult him, scold him, and ignore him all I'd like. But I'll never be able to watch someone else do the same.

Akane looked at her knowingly before nodding his head, "You may go." His tone was quieter now and more serious, "Thank you for not protecting him this time, Joumae." He exhaled sharply and returned his attention to Kitanai, "You." He began to circle him, "Kamui let the Iga go free, therefore there is no doubt that more will come to test his mercy. So, I have a choice: do I let you stay as a guard and run the risk of you letting more in, or..." the war-hardened male looked him straight in the eyes, "... or do I put you in my front line training to prove your worth." Akane wanted to see if him falling asleep was just pure negligence, or if he was in fact born to play a different role. Regardless, punishment could be delivered whichever way the coin fell; if he stayed as a guard and fell asleep again, he would pay for it. If he wished to be part of Akane's fearsome front line, the training for that is punishment in itself.
Akane's poor excuse for a tail swished slowly from side to side awaiting his responce. He didn't dish out such opportunities very often, and was curious to whether the young dog would take it.
(ooc: apologies for any bad spelling XD far too lazy to re-read right now)

Kitanai swallowed slowly and painfully. On one hand, he could stay a guard and live out his life in the treetops, simply watching. On the other, if he joined Akane's front line, the training alone might just kill him. Man....what would Joumae tell me to do? Frowning, he shook his head to clear that thought. No! I'm a year old now, and I think I can start making my own decisions from now on! But... He swallowed again. What do you pick when both your options could amount to death? "I..." His heart was pounding in his ears, deluding his thoughts. For some reason, however, he wasn't afraid. Simply...excited. "I want to be part of your front line, Akane-san."

Something in Akane's eyes glistened when Kitanai answered, "A brave answer." He said, almost smiling at the prospect of training someone new. If it was one thing he took pride in, it was his platoon and the warriors he created from nothing. "There are dogs twice your age still scrambling to get my attention on the battlefield, you should be honoured that I'm giving you this opportunity." It was true, many Koga trained themselves to show what they were made of in front of Akane and Kamui in hopes to gain a higher pack status. But Akane was never interested. Those dogs already knew how to fight, and fight well, so they were no good to him as far as training was concerned. Akane liked to start from scratch, and build on potential whether it was there or not. But the final word on whether they were acceptable was always down to Kamui. "If you are sure this is the path you want to take, then follow me. Someone else will take your place here."

For a brief moment, Kitanai let the very tip of his tail wag back and forth. Him? Brave? And more importantly....IN AKANE'S FRONTLINE?! He was bursting with excitement, but he tried his hardest not to let it show in front of Akane. "Yes, Sir," he replied, dipping his head slightly and trotting after Akane as if walking on air.

Akane glanced backwards at the proud puppy he was now escorting, then faced forward and barked a loud, shrill command. Two Koga dogs then popped up in front of them, jumping quickly from the trees. Akane wasn't stupid enough to walk to the border on his own, and always had at least one or two others watching him from afar. "Yes, Sensei?" One asked and dipped his head. "Take Kitanai's place for the time being. I will send for border reserves to relieve you shortly." "Sir." They both confirmed in unison and ran off to Kitanai's post, no questions asked. Akane then continued forward, "From now on you will address me as Sensei. You will eat when I tell you to eat, sleep when I tell you to sleep, and you will not have contact with anyone else for three days. Your training will take approximately two weeks to complete," his amber eyes looked behind and ensnared Kitanai's gaze, "a week if you want to really impress me."
