"Oh Mio!" she laughed, blushing at her friend's suggestive words. "And so much more of me you fill up with solicitous longing! You and Akane would be an excellent pair indeed. A dangerous one, mind you, with his military cunning and your sharp tongue." When Debiru had given her own answer, Joumae nodded in understanding. "A male with a brain, you say?" she chuckled. "Oh ane-san, you ask too much of them!" She laughed a little longer before realizing that both were waiting for her to give her own answer. Suddenly, Joumae's face became very dark and very grim. Anyone catching her eye? Well of course...but she wouldn't admit that to anyone, even her good friends. She sighed and shook her head. "No, sadly," she muttered. "There is not a single dog among us that intrigues me." Ah, in there lies the truth. Not a single dog...among us. Joumae laid her head on her paws once more, letting out a heavy sigh. "If...I admit something to the two of you do you swear, solemnly swear, to never utter a word of it to anyone else?"

Mio's concerned face jumped from Joumae, to Debiru, then back again. "Well, I swear." She said quietly, knowing perhaps it was to do with where her thoughts drifted earlier. Her eyes darted from side to side quickly to see if any of Kamui's eyes and ears were within striking distance of their conversation before she looked to Debiru for her answer.

Debiru sharpened her ears. Could Joumae be like her when it came to the males? Not a male among the Kogas was good. If Joumaetold her secret maybe, maybe she could too one day... - 'I swear, that is to be told never will reach any others ears if I can prevent it...' the last word came out slowly from her mouth.

"Well," she began, giggling and turning bright red. "Can't you guess? I am in love! I am in love! How sweet is the world, my friends!" Not even a split second later, however, her happy mood deflated, returning to a solemn stare. "But I am afraid. I needn’t tell either of you that this is not to leave our group,” she mumbled. “I…I am afraid. I’m afraid because I fear that my own foolish heart has fallen much too deeply in love with someone who is all wrong for me. I…Well, my friends, as I scout, I glimpse the mad souls of the living each day in ways too intricate to mention. From which, I have discovered the following; we have, each of us, a secret life. Though we are loathed to divulge it, we do, on rare occasion, allow one person proximity to our true selves. In my time as a scout, I willfully invade the sacred privacy of the enemy on a daily basis in the hopes to discover something worthwhile. I swore the day I became a soldier to report anything and everything to Kamui-sama the instant I learned it, no matter how trivial. Yet, I have done exactly the opposite.” She shut her eyes, her cheeks beginning to grow red. “I am in love with Raikou. What I know of him is so dear to me--too dear to me to tell anyone but my own beating heart! It is because of this I told no one of Raikou’s fear of storms, nor of his fitful nightmares, nor of his current weakness. What I shall never know of him is dearer still. I have committed treason in the eyes of many by allowing him to have such a sway over my fragile heart. Oh that I may be damned as his accomplice! Can you understand what it is like being in love with the very creature whom you are obligated to despise?”

Mio closed her eyes and shook her head, "Oh Joumae, you won't be the first dog I've had to say this to, but you cannot under any circumstances act upon these feelings!" She said, exasperated, "And you most certainly can't reveal that you've kept information from your superiors because of it." Mio looked at her pleadingly, "I don't believe for a second that it is love - you have not engaged words with him, correct? It is merely infatuation, and that Raikou has snared you like so many others-" Suddenly she stopped herself and lowered head, "... I'm sorry Joumae. But... I can't stand the thought of another female being killed for her fragility." She allowed herself a smile, "It is why Miu and myself don't allow ourselves to fall for such things even in our own clan; it is a dangerous thing."

Debiru looked from one to the other, and her gazed stuck on the ground. She could feel tears under her sight, but she refused to let them out. The dog, the male, that had cought her feelings was a male that was somewere near the leader. But unlike Joumae, she didn't let these feeling control her. Sure when she was spying on the Igas and this white and dark grey male had been near, the autosphere had been different. But she didn't trust them. So right now all she wanted was to meet this male in a battle. Then she would never would be forced to tell her feelings. Just that she wanted to fight with just this male. She lifted her head. - 'I understand you Joumae' Debiru started slowly - 'but do not keep importent news from the Leader. And don't let feeling ever control you Joumae, a shinobi shall always follow the Leader's order and shall not be controlled by the feelings' Debiruiyaa looked straight into Joumae's eyes. - 'Remember that my friend' Debiru hoped that they didn't see her true feeling on why she said this. She would keep it as secret, a secret she hoped never any Koga or Iga would know.

"I knew it," Joumae muttered, casting her gaze to the ground. "I knew you would judge me poorly despite everything. But dear Mio-chan, ane-san, I cannot simply turn myself away from all this. As for what you said, Mio-chan, you're right; I haven't spoken to him much. Only once. That was enough, however, for me to fall for him..." Absentmindedly, she covered up a faint scar on her right forelimb. "I shall never forget that day. Do you remember a few months ago when the guards found me passed out on the edge of the territory....?"
Two months before
Panting, Joumae raced through the forest, skidding to a halt on a branch hovering above an oblivious white dog below. The wind blowing towards Joumae, helped to conceal her scent as well as the 'dirt' she'd smeared along her flanks. The rest of her team were else where in the Iga territory, since she alone had been entrusted with the job of tagging along after Raikou. Recently, nothing incredibly interesting had occurred, so Joumae began to let her guard down, laying across the length of the branch to catch her breath. Like the many days before, Raikou's movements were nothing worth observing; at the moment, he was simply pacing back and forth, muttering to himself as he usually did. Then, he began to move off northwards to where the thick scent of the Igas was blaring from. Joumae's heart leaped. If he disappeared into the house, she'd finally be able to recall all her teammates from their hiding spots and head home, since there was a strict law not to venture too close to the house lest they be discovered. Raikou leaped into the trees to travel, so Joumae dropped to the ground to hide from him. She'd taken less than two steps before the ground beneath her lurched, giving way to her weight. In truth, she wasn't standing on the ground--she'd stepped directly onto the top of an Iga spike trap. With a cry, she plunged down, instantly feeling a burning sensation in her leg as blood splattered across her face. The pain, at first, had been too great for her to open her eyes, so she didn't know for what seem like hours before she opened her eyes to find that the only part of her to be speared by the tall spikes was her right, front forelimb. With a sigh, she praised god. A moment later, after a crack of thunder rippled across the sky, she cursed her luck. Stuck in the pit during the storm, Joumae would drown for sure unless she could somehow free herself. She tugged and pulled at the spike with all her strength, but it would not budge, and any movement of her leg caused debilitating pain. Just as she was about to consider chewing it off, a certain soothing laughter sounded behind her. "Well, well, well," Raikou's voice chuckled behind her. "I've seen squirrels fall in here. I've seen rabbits leap right in, but I never would have guess that a Koga would actually fall for such a thing." Snarling, Joumae whipped her head about to glare at him. "Baka yaro!" she shouted angrily. "You and your stupid Igas...Come down here and show me what you're really made of! Only cowards like you set traps!" Still laughing like a madman, Raikou turned his back on her, making Joumae fume even more. "Where are you going?!" she shouted after him as the first droplet of rain landed on her muzzle. "Come back here yaro! I'll kill you myself! Come back here!" She leaned down and began to gnaw furiously at the base of her leg. "I'm coming to kill you, Raikou!" "Shwould joo like meh to shelp joo wish that?" Joumae let go her leg, thinking he was making fun of her, and nearly stabbed her muzzle on the sharp branch in front of her face. She looked up even further to see Raikou, standing above her, smiling goofily and wagging his tail. "Shwhat? Ain't joo gonna takes it?" "You're..." His eyes went skyward. "ShI'm afraid of shorms," he mumbled through the stick in his mouth. "Could joo shurry up?" Giving a faint smile, Joumae took the stick, squeezing tightly to keep away the tears of pain that rolled down her cheeks and Raikou began to tug and to suppress the scream of agony in her throat. Finally, after three massive jerks on Raikou's end, Joumae was free, lying on the ground in a rapidly growing puddle of blood. Raikou chucked the stick in his mouth aside, flashing Joumae an honest smile. "You...saved me," she panted. "I don't...I don't believe it..." He scoffed. "Well, not all Igas are as cruel as you might think," he said. "And...when I was younger, something kinda similar happened to me." He swallowed as Joumae's eyes widened. "Anyway, I just couldn't let any dog die a miserable death like that--even a Koga." "Hey!" she spat, raising her head. "What is that supposed to mean, you baka ya--" She was cut off when, suddenly, her eyes rolled into the back of her head, her tongue lulled out, she her head fell limply to the ground. At that instant, another roar of thunder sounded near to them, making Raikou jump in fright. "I gotta get out of here," he grumbled to himself, trying to force the hairs on his neck to go down. But the instant he took a step away, a shudder passed up his body, making him look back down at Joumae. He sighed, rolling his eyes, and heaved her up onto his back. "Fine then," he grumbled. "I guess I'll just have to carry you all the way back, you useless Koga." He set off at a quick pace, eager to return to the Iga house before the storm worsened. On his back, one of Joumae's eyes opened slowly, and a smile trickled across her face. "Ari...gato," she muttered, unsure of whether he could hear her.

((I'm back... sorta )) "I would only judge you poorly if you had already acted on this..." Mio curled her tail around herself as far as it would go, "And, forgive me Joumae; but I'm afraid I do not remember such a day. I can guess it was a significant one for you, though?"

Debiru turned her head on the side. - 'I don't know if I remember it either Joumae' she said. - ' Neither do I judge you for your feelings, we shall never be controlled by them how hard they can be. That's how shinobis are, we were born like it, we didn't choose it' For some reason she started to quiver. All she said to Joumae she was saying to herself as well. The feeling she had for this Iga was new to her, and all she could hope was to have one to one fight with him.

Joumae gave the both of them a warm smile, grateful that they had agreed not to leak her most precious of secrets to anyone who could use it to hurt her. The notion that neither one of them had even heard of that day was shocking...perhaps simply because she couldn't get it out of her mind. Then she remembered what occurred with a sly grin. "Oh yes, that's right," she chuckled evilly. "You didn't hear about it because I made it that way." When met by confused faces, she continued. "Back when I had control--when I wasn't this hollowed out shell of my former self--I could manage what information made it to Kamui's ear with a single command. The scouts who found me, half dead and soaked through, were easily bribed to keep their mouths shut, and the medics who healed my paw were more than happy not to reveal anything after I knocked them around a bit. They healed it as best they could at the moment, and I spend a few weeks covering it in dirt before it healed completely. I'm not so important that anyone would notice my scar and think anything of it."

Mio looked at her admirably. It was nice to know that at one time, at least, it wasn't Kamui and his mad Commander in complete control. "You must have done quite a number on the medics to keep their traps shut. I hear they never keep quiet about who did what to who, who's being treated... I remember one was caught making fun of nursing an embarrassing wound on one of the high ranking officers - he was found dead a few days later."

- 'Yeah, I remember that too' Debiru said. - 'And sometimes it feels like both Kogas and Igas are not just have secrets for eachother, but also among both packs' She streched herself to get rid of the quiver. And now when they had talked about it, she couldn't get this male out of her mind. - 'Do anyone mind if I go to drink?' she asked, trying to change subject.

"No, go ahead, ane-san," Joumae replied, smiling at her question. Why is she so anxious? she wondered. Is it because she too....No, that's stupid. Not every female in this forest is as naive as you are, baka. Joumae turned her head back to Mio. "Yeah, I knew about that too, that's how I managed to convince them not to tell anyone. I threatened that they'd end up the same way, and when one of them decided that wasn't scary enough, I tore part of his ear. Ask him about it any time--he'll make some ridiculous excuse simply to cover that fact that a female like me managed to tweak him like that."

Mio smiled and nodded at Debiru so she could excuse herself, then turned back to Joumae, "Heh, I'll look out for that one and ask him if I ever get the chance." She chuckled, "It's funny, though. Most of us all seem to have secrets within the ranks to keep our hides safe... makes you wonder if Kamui-sama has something to hide too." Mio had a quiet moment to herself as she thought of him having a secret rendezvous with an Iga female. How cliché.

She nodded at them and started to walk. "Why can't I get him out of my head? He's an IGA!" Debiru came to a small creek not to far away and started to drink. The cool water made her forget her sorrows for some breaths. When she had finished her drink, she looked for one side to another. "Wonder if this creek comes from the Iga place?" she thought, and went back to the others.
